Family weekend gateway @Forest Reserve Bukit Gasing - Forest Within The City
19 July 2020
After preparing the breakfast supplies and putting everything inside the bags - fried mee hoon, pau, and cherries (bought yesterday at IOI Putrajaya), we headed to the Bukit Gasing Forest Reserve in Petaling Jaya. "We" this time were ibu, Ariff, Anis, and Alin. Starting the journey at 7.26 am from Putrajaya, the hiking/trekking started from the Bukit Gasing Entrance at around 8.04 am. There was a little difficulty finding a space to park our car because too many people had started trekking early in the morning. The designated car park was full and therefore we have to find a place along the road of the residential areas.
Based on Google, there are actually 2 entrances to Bukit Gasing. The most common one has an arch, the one that we started, and is located in Petaling Jaya while the "back entrance" is on the KL side.
Another recommended starting point is from Pantai Hillpark which is near Dewan Komuniti Pantai Dalam or from Taman Rimba with ample parking space and less traffic. Maybe on our next trip, we can start from these starting points. Since this was an Adhoc weekend gateway, we just follow "Uncle Waze" this time.
When we reached the entrance gate, there were already many people taking photos and waiting for their friends / family members to start the trekking.
The trekking began with climbing several stairs.
Wah, belum apa-apa dah tercungap ni.
The path was a bit slippery, maybe because of the heavy rain the night before.
We noticed there were a few options for the trails and we just followed the majority of people since this was our first time trekking Bukit Gasing. We hiked towards a watchtower and I took some pictures there.
Then we continued descending (there are 2 trails), suddenly we met a group of young men saying that they have a wrong trail. We followed them since they said they were going towards the hanging bridge.
According to some reviews that I searched - 'You will come across a steep flight of steps aptly named "Killer Stretch" and you will experience your heart beating a little bit faster along this stretch'.
So get ready guys.
So get ready guys.
After an hour hike, we came to the highlight of the trail - the "Hanging Bridge". There were too many people, some chose not to walk along the bridge but going down walking through the small river instead.
After the bridge, we have to ascend and descend again, and be prepared for another "Killer Stretch".
There is a junction to go back to the starting point. We decided to use the different trails from the way we came previously and actually it was sort of like a short cut. Finally, after almost 2 hours, we came to the end of the trail, however this time it looks like not a proper entry point.
We stopped by the playground in front of the endpoint and ate our breakfast supplies before headed to Kakak's house at Laguna Biru, Sungai Buloh for a visit and freshen up.

My Review on Bukit Gasing - A good hiking or trekking trail for the beginners and a good training for regular hikers as well as it varies in difficulties. Get ready for the heart beating trekking especially when you have to walk up and down the stairs along the trail. A good place especially for cardiovascular exercise. The trail is rustic with a thick canopy so you are not exposed to too much sun.
